I Reached

This past week was very busy.

There were times when I wasn’t quite sure what to do.

There were times when I did nothing.

There were times when I made mistakes.

And I am quite certain that every single one of you reading this post could say the same thing. We all knew when we entered this profession that it would reward us with gifts that are not wrapped and it would challenge us with problems that are not easily solved.

This past week I did the best that I could, but oftentimes it still wasn’t enough.

And I hated that feeling!

I didn’t know what to do.

So I reached.

And when I reached, something amazing happened.

Not amazing because it surprised me.

Not amazing because it was out of the ordinary.

Amazing because it was just that, AMAZING!

I reached and hands came from everywhere. From people that I have never met in person. From people that are far busier than I am. From people that had much more difficult weeks than I did. From people that probably didn’t have the time to give but gave it anyway.

To those of you that helped me this week I say thank you. Your kindness and your words meant the world to me. I reached out not knowing what I would find. What I found was comfort in knowing that you are always by my side and please know that I am always by yours’.

thank you

Because I am quite certain I will reach again and when I do I will take comfort in knowing that you will reach back.

“And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure . . . And your friends will be properly astonished to see you laughing as you look up at the sky! Then you will say to them, ‘Yes, the stars always make me laugh!’ And they will think you are crazy. It will be a very shabby trick that I shall have played on you…”

  1. Beautiful post. The concept of reaching is an important one. The sharing of ideas, stories, perspectives, thoughts can lead to things we never imagined alone. Sometimes all it takes is a little faith. Have a great day!
